ASR-11 Development Support

TSC provided technical assistance to the FAA Program Office during the development phase.

  • Member of Systems Engineering Team.
  • Participant in Interface Development with Automation Systems
  • Simulated/Analyzed Beacon, Target, and Weather Channel signal and data processors (i.e. CFARs, Doppler filters, etc.).
  • Analyzed/Tested front end components (antenna, transmitter, receiver)
  • Member of the Site Activation Team acting as chair of the site survey planning meetings. Used RSS to predict radar performance and got involved in dismantling effort.

  • Developed many technical requirements such as primary, beacon, and weather performance and interfaces (This should be a link to the “Interfaces” page). TSC coordinated these requirements with other agencies and reviewed existing primary and secondary radar FAA and international orders and standards.
  • Analyzed and reviewed search, beacon, and weather performance and participated in the National Airspace System (NAS) interface development to Automated Radar Terminal System (ARTS), Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS), and Remote Maintenance System/National Infrastructure Maintenance System (RMS/NIMS).
  • Served as technical advisors to source selection committee.
