TSC’s efforts with weather sensors have included the following tasks involving Surveillance Radar Weather Channel Studies:
Weather Channel Products and DisplaysDevelopment of a summary report describing an overview of the weather products and weather screen displays for the ARSR-1, -2, -3, -4, FPS, ASR-8, ASR-9, ASR-11, and the WSP on the ASR-9, that will include the following information:
- A brief description of the radar and a site location map
- Weather products displayed
- Applied thresholds of products before display
- Update rate of the products
- Reflectivity level of the display (dBZ, color or grayscale)
Weather Channel Characteristics
Development of a summary report describing an overview of the surveillance radar weather channel characteristics including:
- Performance characteristics
- Description of scanning strategies
- Velocity and reflectivity estimates
- Digital Signal Processing architecture and algorithms
- Description of Ground Clutter Filtering
